This interactive approach was designed to educate consumers about their skin’s hydration status while building trust and confidence in Neutrogena’s products.

USP’s Contribution To address Neutrogena’s objectives, USP Demo Solutions developed an innovative Hydration Test Tool tailored for body skin analysis. The tool provided a quick and accurate measurement of skin hydration levels, allowing consumers to understand their skin’s condition and see visible results after using Neutrogena products.

Impact The Hydration Test Tool became a key feature of Neutrogena’s POS strategy in France, driving consumer engagement and sales. By combining education, interaction, and visible proof, the tool reinforced Neutrogena’s reputation as a leader in skincare science and innovation.

The Challenge

For the Hydration Check, Neutrogena needed to make the "Hydrated skin" promise something shoppers in the body care category could see for themselves, not just read on a label. In the few seconds a shopper spends at shelf or in a consultation, copy and ingredient lists rarely land, especially when rival products advertise hydration claims.

The brief for the Hydration Check was to turn that abstract message into a tangible, repeatable proof point that retail staff, pharmacists or beauty advisors could run on demand, without lab equipment or specialist training, while staying on brand for Neutrogena.

The Approach

Neutrogena, a global leader in skincare, aimed to create a highly engaging and educational demo tool to be used at points of sale in France. The goal was threefold:

USP Demo Solutions built the Hydration Check for Neutrogena around the Hydration Test - Body method, reducing the Hydrated skin story to a single visible reaction the consumer can trigger themselves. That gives the conversation a clear before/after moment in the body care aisle instead of a one-way pitch.

From the same physical interaction with the Hydration Check, the demo substantiates claim areas such as hydration, so a single asset can carry several conversations across the Neutrogena range.

The Result

The result for Neutrogena is a educate on body's hydration level, delivered through the Hydration Check as something the consumer experiences first-hand rather than has to take on trust.

By turning Neutrogena's "Hydrated skin" message into a hands-on Hydration Test - Body moment, the Hydration Check becomes a credible, science-backed conversation starter the shopper can repeat for a friend.

In the field, Neutrogena runs the Hydration Check primarily for retail activation, delivered in diagnostic tool so the same Hydration Test - Body proof point travels from a pharmacist's counter to a beauty advisor's tablet without losing its logic.

Because the Hydration Check is run by the consumer rather than presented to them, Neutrogena earns a moment of genuine participation that lands harder than any printed body care claim.
