The objective was to create a tool that not only accurately assessed dandruff levels of the attendees but also engaged the audience the event, highlighting the company’s commitment to innovation.

The USP team collaborated closely with Schwarzkopf’s global team to understand their vision, technical requirements, and desired user experience. Drawing insights from USP Technologies’ expertise in interactive tools and Schwarzkopf’s profound understanding of hair care, we developed a cutting-edge Dandruff Tester Card.

This technology enabled accurate assessment of dandruff levels on different scalp types. Additionally, leveraging interactive design principles, the tool was made user-friendly, ensuring easy deployment that could be used across various platforms.

The Challenge

For the Event Engagement Tool, Schwarzkopf needed to make the "Reduces dandruff" promise something shoppers in the hair care category could see for themselves, not just read on a label. In the few seconds a shopper spends at shelf or in a consultation, copy and ingredient lists rarely land, especially when rival products advertise anti-dandruff claims.

The brief for the Event Engagement Tool was to turn that abstract message into a tangible, repeatable proof point that retail staff, pharmacists or beauty advisors could run on demand, without lab equipment or specialist training, while staying on brand for Schwarzkopf.

The Approach

Henkel’s global team wanted to bring innovation to their internal event that covered over 8 countries. They needed a tool to support and promote the efficacy of their dandruff shampoo. The primary goal was to demonstrate Schwarzkopf’s acute understanding of consumer needs and...

USP Demo Solutions built the Event Engagement Tool for Schwarzkopf around the Dandruff Test method, reducing the Reduces dandruff story to a single visible reaction the consumer can trigger themselves. That gives the conversation a clear before/after moment in the hair care aisle instead of a one-way pitch.

From the same physical interaction with the Event Engagement Tool, the demo substantiates claim areas such as anti-dandruff, so a single asset can carry several conversations across the Schwarzkopf range.
